Education & Literacy

At Compassionate Afghanistan, education is more than a right—it’s a path to survival, dignity, and long-term transformation. We believe learning is the cornerstone of hope, resilience, and progress for all Afghans. While our formal programs are in development, we are laying the groundwork through community assessments, partnerships, and strategic planning to ensure our future interventions are inclusive, sustainable, and transformative for Afghanistan’s children, youth, women, and marginalized communities.

Transforming Futures

🧭 Overview

While millions of children remain out of school and young people lack access to meaningful learning, Compassionate Afghanistan is working from the ground up—conducting community-based assessments, engaging with the Ministry of Education, and mapping opportunities to deliver inclusive, relevant, and life-changing education programs across the country.

🚨 Why Education in Afghanistan Needs Urgent Action
  • 4.2 million children are out of school; 60% of them are girls.

  • 90% of Afghan youth have no access to science, digital, or STEM education.

  • 2.5 million girls are banned from attending secondary school (UNICEF, 2024).

  • Poverty, displacement, and conflict have erased decades of progress.

  • Educators and students alike face trauma, instability, and isolation.

Education in Afghanistan is facing one of its most urgent crises. These challenges threaten not only Afghan lives, but the very future of the nation.

drain threaten its workforce and future innovation.

🌍 Why Education in Afghanistan Matters Globally
  • Peace starts with education: It reduces extremism, violence, and forced migration.

  • Girls’ education is a global gender justice issue.

  • Education is a universal right: Denying it threatens human dignity worldwide.

  • Investing in Afghan youth helps build a healthier, more stable region and world.

An educated Afghan population strengthens not only local stability but also global peace and development. We promote security, uphold human rights, reduce poverty and displacement, and contribute to global progress.

Our Vision:

An Afghanistan where every child can read, every youth can innovate, and every woman can lead—with education as the engine of peace, dignity, and development.

Our Mission:

To provide inclusive, equitable, and adaptable education and literacy opportunities that build resilience, restore hope, and enable Afghans to thrive locally and compete in the global landscape.

🔧 Our Strategic Objectives
  • Enhance access to basic and non-formal education for children, youth, and adults.

  • Support girls’ and women’s education, even under restrictive environments.

  • Invest in teachers, especially women educators, through training and support.

  • Promote literacy and numeracy as foundations for lifelong learning.

  • Innovate with technology and local resources to sustain education in crisis.

  • Advocate for education rights at national and international levels.

🧩 Current Status: Laying the Groundwork

Though full-scale programs are not yet launched, our team is actively building the foundation for impactful education interventions by:

  • Conducting community-level education assessments in partnership with elders, local Shuras, school officials, and women’s groups.

  • Collaborating with local education departments and the Ministry of Education to identify urgent gaps.

  • Consulting with displaced communities, out-of-school youth, and women’s cooperatives to understand their learning needs.

  • Mapping geographic areas for future learning hubs, teacher recruitment, and safe education spaces.

  • Engaging religious and community leaders to secure support for future initiatives.

  • Exploring innovative models such as mobile schools, digital learning, and vocational training.

This groundwork is essential to design responsive, community-owned solutions tailored to each region’s unique needs.
